Rooney Axed Over Night Out

Wayne Rooney was a notable absence from Man United’s shock 3-2 loss with Blackburn Rovers on Saturday and despite Ferguson stating that he was struggling with an injury, rumours have been circulated that the player was axed following allegations that he, Johnny Evans and Darron Gibson went out following the 5-0 win against Wigan on boxing day.

Apparently the 3 went out for a quiet family meal but still broke club discipline rules, and so both Rooney and Gibson sat out the loss against the relegation sufferers on Sir Alex’s 70th birthday. With Chelsea also losing, and Spurs drawing, it remains to be seen quite how much damage will be done; that is until Man City take on Sunderland on New Years Day afternoon.

  1. Wow, looks like Man United get away with their poor performance thanks to Sunderland’s last minute winner against Man City!

  2. I think Fergie was right to ban Rooney because he’s got to keep the same punishment for all player regardless of their ability and obviously he’s had to suffer with the loss of his best striker, but still, sends out a good message to all of the other players who’ll realise that they won’t ever get preferential treatment when it comes to these kinds of incidents! Top form by the manager IMO.

  3. still should’ve played him it was only a quiet night out apparently he just had a meal with a few friends so had he played man united would’ve probably won or at least got a point so instead they gave city the chance to go top
